Piecemakers Club

The August meeting of the Piecemakers Club will be Monday, August 20, at 7 PM at Highland Lake Lodge. The program will be presented by Mary Massey. It is a new twist on a 9-patch block. The blocks are not all cut the same size so look at the diagram carefully. Make one 9-patch block with the blocks listed below and bring it along with one 5 ¾ inch square, cut in half cross ways. Bring machine and supplies, addition blocks if you want to make more.
To make the nine patch block sew in this order:

4 ½ “ sq. light fabric
4 ½ “ X 3 ½ “ sq. med. fab.
4 ½ “ sq. light fabric
4 ½ “ X 3 ½ “ sq. dark fab.
3 ½ “ sq. light fab
4 ½ “ X 3 ½” sq. dark fab.
4 ½ “ sq. light fab.
4 ½ “ X 3 ½ “ sq. med. fab.
4 ½ “ sq. light fabric

Star Blocks

Please continue to work on your star block and turn it in at a club meeting. Each member is ask to make ONE block with a favorite star pattern using red, white, blue and/or gold. The block should be 12 ½” when you complete it, and it will sew together as a 12” block. This will be 2008 Club quilt. Everyone please participate.

St. Jude Crib Quilts

Ten beautiful crib quilts were delivered to Hancock’s in Tyler for delivery to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital. They were very appreciative of each gift and the many hours that were spent on them. Thank You for making this a successful community service project this year!

Fair Time Again

Entries will be taken on Tues. & Wed., Sept. 4 & 5 from 3 – 8 PM at the fairgrounds. Judging will be Sept. 6th. Start collecting the items you are planning to enter. Fair books are in several businesses in the county as well as in the extension office.
